Artwork done by your grandchildren + Mod Podge = a wonderful activity!
Mod Podge was popular back in the ’70s. Making little crafts with Mod Podge was within the realm of my capabilities. I sense that Mod Podge is raising its creative head to a whole new generation of users. And what fun ideas they have. Like Jacinda and Jaime at PrudentBaby.com
Jacinda and Jaime are sooooooooooooo crafty! They put me to shame. (Wait. What am I saying? I never, ever pretended to be a crafty person! I’m shifty, yes. Crafty, no. So, it wouldn’t take much craftiness to put me to shame!)
When I saw their tutorial on creating a trivet from art that their children have done, I knew instantly that I had to share this idea with my readers here. (They graciously agreed to let me use one of their pictures to entice you, to tempt you, to tease you, to encourage you to create similar trivets of your own.)
This would be a great activity to do with your grandchildren. Have them create their masterpiece and then create a trivet or two or thirty-eight of ‘em.
If your grandchildren do not live nearby, you could send them the supplies through the mail. Maybe send one package with materials so your grandchildren can create their art work. Send a second package with the trivet material. Then, ask them to take a digital picture of what they made and e-mail it to you — or post the picture on a joint blog that you might have.
So shake a stick and get over to Prudent Baby to learn how to make a trivet!
They also had a fun idea of using Mod Podge to make a delightful tray. She used decorative paper for the design on the bottom of the tray. (Which made me think that another variation would be to use scrapbooking paper for your trivet.)
I also saw a picture of a child playing in a big red plastic ‘bucket’ filled with water. I have one of those big buckets. When I saw the picture, it made me realize how it could be used as a fun mini-personal swimming pool for my grandchildren to play in. I just have to wait for the snowstorms to stop before I can use it like that . . . and for my grandchildren to grow up a bit . . .
Spend some time browsing the Prudent Baby site. You’ll be delighted at what you see!
