So. I went to the bookstore to see if there was a fun Halloween book that I could get for my grandkids. I wanted something like the one I have previously written about. It’s a hoot!
There were boring books.
There was a Halloween book based in my home state. Blah and yawn.
There were books with wildly drab pictures.
I didn’t particularly like anything that I saw.
And THEN . . .
. . . then I saw the book The Cat, The Dog, Little Red, The Exploding Eggs, The Wolf, and Grandma by Diane and Christyan Fox. The dog’s comment on the cover “It all sounds a bit complicated to me” caught my attention. I just HAD to read it.
I’m glad I did.
Here, I love the how the dog refers to ‘the hood girl.’ It’s things like this that make reading books enjoyable for parents and grandparents! I love that sense of humor!
The cat finally reaches a breaking point . . .
The book ends with the dog asking a hilarious question.
Now, I don’t want to spoil the book for you. You’ll either have to buy one or check a copy out of the library to see what the dog says.
I know that this is the season for all things Halloween. I know that this book does not have one thing to do with Halloween. However, I do thoroughly enjoy this book. And, Dear Readers, I wanted to share it with you.
I’m thinking that this would be a good birthday present, Christmas present, something for a grandchild’s Easter basked, or a book to add to your own personal library.
You’ll love the sense of humor in the book. You’ll enjoy reading it over and over to your grand chickabiddies — and THAT is a huge thing for me!
If it’s like fingernails down the chalkboard of my soul to read it many times, you can rest assured that I won’t read it often to my grandkids!
But this isn’t one of those books. Phew! I’d be pleased as punch to have this in my library. You would, too!
(Disclaimer: I have not received a free copy of this book to review nor have I received any remuneration for writing about it. Rats!)
