I know that we just barely had Christmas.
And New Year’s Day.
(And Thanksgiving and Halloween before that.)
However, another holiday is just around the corner — and it ISN”T Valentine’s Day, folks! Drumroll please.
It’s National Popcorn Day!
January 19 is National Popcorn Day. What a terrific day to celebrate with grandchildren. I have yet to meet a kid that doesn’t like popcorn.
Did you know that Americans consume 16 billion unpopped quarts a year? That equals about 51 quarts per person. (I know that I eat my fair share. It’s a rough job but somebody’s got to do it . . . )
National Popcorn Day is less than 2 weeks away. The nice thing about this holiday is that you don’t have to worry about sending out cards, decorating your home, or buying gifts. Phew! All you have to do is make — and eat — some. Especially with your grandkids.
That’s easy, right?
Popcorn.org has some terrific recipes in case you need some new ideas.

- Nutty Chocolate Caramel Corn Clusters
- Poppy Chow
- Popcorn S’mores

- Sweet and Smokey Almond Popcorn
In fact, they have a 180-page recipe book stuffed with wonderful recipes. You might want to download it. That way, you would always have it on hand for whenever the mood strikes you to make a yummy treat.
The nice things about most of these recipes is that they are super easy. And, they don’t take a long time to make. You can eat them IMMEDIATELY! (That’s my kind of treat.)
So, grab a grandchild. Make one of these recipes. And snuggle together and watch a movie — even if that holiday falls on a school night!
