Paper Poppets — Such Delightful Paper Dolls

Paper Poppits are a fun, modern version of paper dolls. Girls will absolutely love them!(NOTE: I was given a free Paper Poppet set to review but my opinions are my own. See the special at the end of my post.)

When I was little, my parents subscribed to a children’s magazine. Every once in a while, the magazine would have a page with a paper doll and some clothes for it.

What fun I had coloring it, cutting it out, and playing with it!

I still like paper dolls today.

Paper dolls have been brought into this new millennium by Paper Poppets!

Wahoo! Just in time for me to share with my granddaughters who are at the age where they would love them!

Now my granddaughters can discover — and love — paper dolls. Paper dolls that are cool and with it. Ones that have stylish and chic clothing, shoes to die for, and even pets!

First. A wee bit about the word poppet. Poppet is a British term of endearment. (Do you remember in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean? Keira Knightley, who played Elizabeth Swann, hid in a closet from the pirates. One pirate said something like, “Come out my little poppet. Come out from wherever you are!” Remember?)

I think that ALL of my grandchildren are sweet little poppets! I think I’ll start calling them that . . .

I received the Maddy and Ava poppet set. It comes with a storybook, two paper dolls, their stand, their clothing and accessories, and a pet.

The box that the paper dolls come in has a plastic handle. Clever! This makes it easy to use the box as a carrying case for the dolls.

The storybook is not just any ol’ regular run-of-the-mill storybook. Oh no! This book has coloring pages, additional clothing to cut out, and an activity to do.

I was very impressed with the durability of the pages. They will be able to withstand being turned over and over by little loving hands.

And best of all, the inside back cover has a pocket where your granddaughter can safely keep her poppet and clothes! I love that pocket!

Here are the paper dolls on their stand and with some of their clothing cut out.

My granddaughter was so happy to check out these paper poppets! She gave them two thumbs up!

Remember how I said the book had durable paper? The outfits are made from durable paper, too. Which is nice. That means little fingers won’t accidentally rip the outfits when punching them out or when putting the outfits on the paper dolls. And the tabs won’t easily tear from being bent to put an outfit on or from taking it off. (Voice of experience here, folks!)

Maddy has a ‘cat’ outfit. My granddaughter loves cats and LOVES the outfit! The outfit is purple and that’s my granddaughter’s favorite color! Spot on! (It’s just by coincidence that my granddaughter had on the headband with cat ears when I visited her and gave her the poppets!)

The set also has a postcard. When you send it in, you’ll get free downloadable fashions. Sweet!

In addition to having fun with the paper dolls, your grandkids get other benefits, too. The dolls:

  • Helps develop gross motor skills – by carefully cutting and pressing out fashions
  • Ignites imagination – mix and match outfits
  • Promotes unplugged play – no batteries or technologies are used
  • Provides on-the-go play – conveniently packs in a box with handle to take along anywhere (like to grandma’s house!)

If you’re looking for a Christmas present for your granddaughters age 5 and up, look no further! I think that these paper dolls would be a fabulous gift for them. This is would be a different type of present — no plastic toy here! A gift like this would be one that your grandchildren can enjoy and play with for many hours.

This Paper Poppet set costs $19.99. For additional products and further information, visit the Paper Poppet website.

However, you Dear Reader can get a special coupon code. If you enter GRANDMA at checkout, then you will get $5 off their first order! Isn’t that cool?

Thanks for sharing!

Ooooh! I used to love playing with paper dolls when I was little, too! I’ve tried making some for Gv, but these are too cute! Thanks for linking up this post and the fun turkey balloon post with us over at #5After5 today! I hope you have a great weekend!
