Woman in Gold DVD Giveaway

Enter a giveaway for a DVD of Woman in Gold, AND a DVD of Big Eyes, AND a DVD of The King's Speech AND a $25 Visa gift card! Ends midnight July 14.Note: This is a sponsored giveaway. Samples and prizes have been provided by Anchor Bay Entertainment. However, the opinions are my own and are not influenced in anyway by Anchor Bay Entertainment.

The movie Woman in Gold is based on a true story of Maria Altman, a Jewish woman who barely escaped Austria before the Nazis completely shut off the country to outside travel at the beginning of World War II.

As the Nazis pillaged and looted artwork from Jewish families, they confiscated a painting of Maria’s aunt from her family.

After the war, Maria wanted that painting back. However, there was one minor detail.

The country’s minister and art director considered the painting to be a part of Austria’s national identity.

They refused to relinquish it. (Those rascals!)

They claimed Altman’s aunt willed it to the gallery. (False, false, false!)

Altman, played by Helen Mirren, was now living in Los Angeles. She decided that she needed to take action.

She decides to hire an attorney to help her get the painting back.

(Cue: enter Ryan Reynolds as the attorney. Swoon, swoon! He is such a cutie, don’t you think?)

The lawyer is inexperienced yet plucky and feisty! He  files a challenge with the art restitution board but the challenge was denied. Boo! Hiss!

They embark upon a major battle which takes them all the way to the heart of the Austrian establishment and the U.S. Supreme Court, and Altman is forced her to confront difficult truths about the past along the way.

Then, Altman and her lawyer have an argy-bargy. (An argy-bargy is a vigorous discussion or dispute — a borderline argument. I love that word. It’s great fun to say.)

I won’t tell you how it ends because I don’t want to spoil the movie for you!

But I will tell you this. This is a wonderful movie based on the most interesting and true story. I highly recommend the movie. Nay. More than highly recommend it. I STRONGLY INSIST that you see it!

Here’s a trailer for the movie to give you a teeny taste of it.

Did you miss the movie when it came out in the movie theaters? Not to worry.

It’s coming out TODAY on DVD, BLU-RAY, and Digital HD. Huzzah! You can now own your very own copy of the movie.

And thanks to the wonderful folks at Anchor Bay Entertainment I am having one SPECTACULAR giveaway.

I wish I could answer that it was Anna Karenina or something more high brow, but in truth, it’s Napoleon Dynamite! I’m not one to watch films over and over, but I have seen this one probably 100 times. I still laugh and marvel over it’s cleverness!

I’m not sure if you mean from those 3 or all time… so lets make it easy on me and I’ll choose from the 3 lol 😉 I absolutely loved the The King’s Speech. I really want to see Woman in Gold though. Money is tight so I didn’t see it when out and I don’t own the The King’s Speech, so this would all be amazing! Fingers crossed!!

I loved woman in Gold but I must admit that The King’s Speech is really one of my all time favorites. I worked as a speech-language pathologist for 30 years until I retired 2 years ago so that movie is for me!

Wow! Such an amazing giveaway! I’m so excited to see Woman In Gold, unfortunately I missed it in theaters. I would love to win this! My all time favorite movie has to be Selena, starring Jennifer Lopez. I’ve loved it since I was a kid. There’s video of me when I was 3 dancing while watching it in the living room in just my underwear. It’s so cute, but so embarrassing!! Just this weekend, Jennifer Lopez followed me on Twitter for my 20th birthday and it made my life! I’ve literally loved her since I was 3! Sorry for going on and on. Thank you for the opportunity!
