Woven Fish Craft

You all know that I’m all about easy crafts, right?

Right.

And inexpensive ones, too?

Yup.

This woven fish craft fits the bill.

If you’re like me, you have a stash of card stock paper on hand. (If you don’t have any, rush out and get some!)

You might not have an X-Acto knife but you could get by with using scissors.

This craft is best for kids 8 years old and older. If you do it with younger ones, you’ll have to help them to make sure they get the weaving right.

Okay. Let’s get making these woven fish! Here’s what you’ll need:

Supplies for making this craft.

Print the fish on a piece of colored card stock. Cut it out.

Using the ruler and X-Acto knife, cut slits in the fish body about half an inch apart. (I just eyeballed it . . .) It’s a good idea to have a cutting board underneath the fish to protect your countertop while cutting.

Slits in the fish to weave it.

Cut strips of colored card stock about half an inch wide. (Again, I just eyeballed it.)

Weave the strips in between the slits in the fish body.

Trim the ends of the strips of paper and glue them down.

Print a fish pattern on regular white printer paper. Cut it out and glue it on.

That’s it, folks! Your fish craft if finished. (See? I told you this was easy!)

Here are my two cute granddaughters showing off their fish. I think this craft turned out really nice.
