When my littlest sister was born, I discovered the book Mr. Brown Can Moo Can You? by Dr. Seuss.
She loved listening to me read it and I loved reading it to her.
That began my love affair with Dr. Seuss books.
When I had children, I naturally added Dr. Seuss books to our library. My kids loved listening to me read them and I loved reading those books to my kids. (History repeated itself . . . )
We were all happy.
Fast forward many years. Many. I now enjoy reading Dr. Seuss books to my grandkids and they enjoy listening to me read the books to them. (Do you see a pattern here, Dear Reader?)
Because of that love affair, I was thrilled to stumble across a wonderful website where you can create personalized signs using characters from Dr. Seuss’ books. How cool is that?
I made some using my grandchildren’s names.

Aren’t those signs terrific? Can you imagine being a little kid and getting a picture like one of these that is personalized with your own name?
Click here to go to the page that generates signs using these characters so you can make fun signs for your own grandkids.
There are several fun things that you can do with the pictures that you generate. You can right-click on the picture and:
- Save it to your computer. Then put that picture in a word processing document to print up and give a grandchild.
- Print up and put in a picture frame for a grandchild to hang on her bedroom wall.
- Create your own story book using the signs that you generate.
- Print it for a grandchild to put in her locker at school.
- Email it to a grandchild and tell her that you’re thinking of her.
You could also right-click on the image and create a QR code of your message.

Print out your code and mail it to a grandchild. Kids love getting snail mail. (This would be so fun for them to get — especially those grandchildren who live far away.)
Or, if your grandchild doesn’t have a cellphone, text it to your grandchild’s parents to share with her. Or, print up the code and hang it on your fridge for when your she visits. Have her use your phone to scan it to read the message. So. Be creative and think up clever ways that YOU can use a QR code!
You can right-click on the picture and ‘share’ it which will send it to Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Tumblr. Although, I can’t imagine that my grands (who are seven-years-old and younger . . .) would be interested very much in those sharing options. However, teenaged grandchildren could get a kick out of this.
If your grandkids live far away, you could send them the link to the site and they could generate their own signs.
But what if your grandchild is not into Dr. Seuss? That’s okay. There are other options.
You can also make signs from breakfast cereal characters

Or from the Flintstones . . .

Ones from Scooby Do . . .

or the Pink Panther. Fun!

Wait! There’s more!
You can also create a sign that is the billboard to a drive-in movie theater marquee. Sweet. (You’ll have to explain to your grandkids what a drive-in movie is.)

You and your grandkids could have quite a bit of fun exploring this site and creating personalized signs.
