I love holidays that celebrate food! Which means I’m going to be celebrating wildly really soon because National Peanut Butter Cookie Day is on June 12!
I love cookies. (Much to the dismay of my scales . . .)
I love peanut butter. (Again, much to the dismay of my scales. . .)
So, it goes without saying that I love peanut butter cookies — especially the following two recipes!
If you want to celebrate National Peanut Butter Cookie Day along with me on June 12, why not make one of these yummy recipes?
Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 bag Hershey Kisses
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat eggs. Add white and brown sugar. Sift dry ingredients and stir in. Add shortening, peanut butter and vanilla.
Roll into balls the size of walnuts and put on greased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes until edges are golden brown.
Remove from oven and immediately press one Hershey Kiss in the center of each cookie and remove cookies from baking sheet to cooling rack.

These cookies were a perennial hit with our kids. (I think they liked unwrapping — and eating — the kisses the most!) I predict your grandkids will like them, too!
If your kids enjoy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, they’ll like the next cookies!
Peanut Butter ‘N Jelly Bars
3 C flour
1 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup margarine
2 eggs beaten
1 cup grape jelly
2 C peanut butter chips
Combine dry ingredients. Cut in margarine until you have coarse crumbs. Stir in eggs. Beat till smooth.
Press half of the mixture in the bottom of a greased 9″ x 13″ pan. Spread jelly on top. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the peanut butter chips.
Crumble remaining dough on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with the remaining cup of peanut butter chips on top.

Why not dedicate the whole day on June 12 to honor peanut butter? Spread it over your waffles for breakfast. Make a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. Make a peanut butter milkshake to go along with these cookies for your supper.
Viva la peanut butter!

Looks yummy!
Oh yum! How did I miss this National day? Love peanut butter cookies! Both regular and the blossoms. The PB & J bars look yummy as well. Thanks for sharing the recipes with SYC. Pinning.
hugs,
Jann
Every year I have to make the peanut butter blossom cookies for my husband. They are his all-time favorite cookie.
I know celery isn’t a cookie, but peanut butter makes it pretty tasty. Who doesn’t like Peanut butter M & M’s? I like yummy bars with Rice Krispies and peanut butter. Kids them love ’em also.
Rice Krispies were introduced to the public in 1928.
Hi Andrea,
I love the Rice Krispies with peanut butter, too. I Melt chocolate chips and spread on top of them. Makes them even more yummy (and calorie laden . . .) Hope all is going well with your family!

I like to eat peanut butter cookies and I never heard of the second recipe!
Hi Lanae,
You’ll have to try the bar cookie recipe. It’s yummy! Thanks so much for dropping by.
