How would you like some fun little turkeys tucked around your house for Thanksgiving decorations?
Or possibly as place settings at your Thanksgiving meal?
This little juice box turkey craft makes the cutest ever little turkeys. Your grandkids will want to make a whole flock of them!
These turkeys are easy and inexpensive to make. Here’s what you will need:
- small juice boxes
- brown, yellow, and red construction paper or copy paper
- scrapbook paper (or bright colored copy paper or card stock paper)
- googly eyes
- tape
- scissors
- my juice box turkey feather pattern
First, drink the juice from the little box. This is the best part of the craft!
Set the box upside down in your sink for a couple of minutes to let any leftover juice drip out.
Cut a piece of brown paper to go all the way around the box. Cut out a piece to cover the top. Tape the pieces to the box.
NOTE: I rolled a piece of tape to hold the paper that went on the top of the box. However, that made the top stick up a bit. Next time I think I won’t cover the top at all.
Cut the feathers out of the scrapbook paper. Glue them to the back of the box. Cut out a beak and wattle and glue those on.
Natalie used the glue stick to glue on the turkey’s eyes. The eyes stuck to her fingers instead!
(NOTE: the eyes didn’t want to stick on very good. Maybe white school glue would work better. Or you could use a hot glue gun.)
The turkeys are done! Wasn’t that easy? (See how the top brown paper sticks up? I don’t like that — but the grandkiddos didn’t seem to notice.)
You could have your grandkids make some of these turkeys while they are waiting for Thanksgiving dinner to finish cooking. It’s so easy that they could make them with minimal supervision — which would be nice because you’ll probably be busy in the kitchen!
