Remember the construction paper chains that you made at Christmas time when you were in elementary school?
I made them with my kids, too. Sometimes they would make them and put them on the Christmas tree. Sometimes we just placed them thither and yon around the house as decorations.
Let’s put a slight twist on that good ol’ standard paper chain.
Let’s make a paper chain out of hearts. It’s super easy and your grandkids will love making them.
Ready? Great!
Get out your construction paper, scissors, and a stapler.
Cut out a bunch of strips that are one inch wide and 8.5 inches long. Now, take one piece and fold it in half.
Bend the paper and bring the two ends together to make the ‘top’ part of the heart.
Staple the ends together.
Fold your second paper strip and slip it through the heart that you just made. Bring the ends together and staple it. This gives you two hearts stapled together.
Continue stapling strips together in your chain until you have your desired length.
Make one long enough to hang around your grandchild’s bedroom door. Or over her mirror in the bathroom. Or on the mantle in the front room. There are lots of places that your grandchild could put her heart chain.
This will be one of the easiest Valentine’s Day activities that your grandchildren will ever do!
