Mother Goose step aside.
You’ve got some competition — Monster Goose!
And what a spooky competition it is!
Monster Goose by Judy Sierra is a hilarious Halloween book that is based on familiar nursery rhymes.
Are you ready for a hauntingly hilarious read?
Good! Here’s Monster Goose. . . .
. . . with her poem . . .
Old Monster Goose
When conditions did suit her
Pecked out these rhymes
On her laptop computer.
Remember Mary who had a little lamb? She was sweet and her fleecy lamb so docile. Well, in Monster Goose, Mary has a vampire bat!
My favorite poem in the whole book is Jack Sprat.
Jack Sprat
Ate some Fat
And drank some gasoline.
He lit his pipe
And in one swipe
Invented Lean Cuisine.
Don’t ya just love Jack’s eyeballs??
The poetry in this book is clever, clever, clever. But the illustrations are what really make this book. As you read it with your older grandchildren, spend plenty of time looking at them.
However, I’m not sure I would read this book to grandchildren, say, under the age of six. It might be a tad too scary for those wee ones. Or too gross. Or too mature that they wouldn’t understand the humor of the pictures or the poetry.
This book could be the hit of a Halloween party for your older grandchildren. Stop by a bookstore and get your copy today!
Disclaimer: I did not receive any remuneration for writing about this book. (I paid for my own copy.) In fact, the author, publisher, and illustrator have no clue whatsoever that I wrote about this book.

Thank you for sharing with us at #HomeMattersParty . See you again next week.
Yikes. Very clever, but my 5 year old grandsons call themselves “scientists” after doing a few kitchen experiments, so I’d hate to suggest drinking gasoline! But for older kids – hilarious!
