Easy Easter Candle Craft

This Easter candle craft is easy and fun for kids to make. And! It's inexpensive!

Easter is such a fun time to do crafts with the grandkids! They always love making something for the upcoming holiday.

So I thought that we would make this Easter candle craft. These candles are super easy to make and are not a common type of craft for kids to make. (That’s one of the reasons why I love these!)

Here’s a list of the supplies that you’ll need:

  • White candle from a dollar store
  • Easter graphics (free ones below)
  • Blow dryer
  • Wax paper
  • Scissors
  • Card stock paper
  • White tissue paper (the kind you stuff in gift sacks . . .)
  • Scotch tape

First, cut a piece of white tissue paper that is a little bit smaller than the card stock.

Smooth out the tissue paper and tape it to the card stock. I put two fairly long pieces on the end of the card stock that went into the printer and two small ones along the sides. (I’m so embarrassed. I forgot to take a picture of this step!)

This is what some of the graphics look like.

Insert your card stock with the tissue paper tapped to it into your printer and print the graphics.

(A few wrinkles won’t affect your candle.)

Cut around the graphics that you want to use. (You don’t have to cut on the exact outline of the graphic. You can cut about 1/4 inch away from it so there is some white tissue paper around it.)

Rip off about a 3 inch wide strip of wax paper.

Place the graphic on the candle. Put the wax paper on top of the graphic. Wrap the wax paper around the candle and grip it. This is to hold the graphic in place. And, it will also help you hold the candle so your hand won’t get burned by the blow dryer!

Turn on the blow dryer and hold it really close to where the graphic is being held on to the candle.

Simon makes his candle. (He didn’t hold the blow dryer close enough so he had to use the blow dryer a second time.)

Polly waits, and waits, and waits her turn to make her candle.

Elliot makes his candle. He holds the blow dryer much closer (than what Simeon did the first time) which is perfect.)

Polly FINALLY gets to make her candle. See how happy she is . . . (And can you see how I’m holding the wax paper? Hopefully this helps you to understand better how to hold it! After all, they say a picture is worth a thousand words!)

The heat from the blow dryer will melt the candle wax. This will take about 30 seconds.

When you think that the wax is melted good enough under the entire graphic, stop the blow dryer.

Remove the wax paper. Press the tissue paper into the melted wax to make sure it will adhere to the candle.

And there’s your finished Easter candle craft!

And, everybody is pleased. Even Polly!
