I like crafts that are a little bit unusual. Something that isn’t typical. Something that’s a little bit unique.
This Easter soap craft fits that bill. (Isn’t the gray rabbit on the soap above delightful?)
And the cool thing? Grandkids love making this craft!
And I love it because there is minimal preparation and minimal cost and it isn’t a long drawn out, complicated craft.
Here’s a list of things that you’ll need:
- Soap (in pastel Easter colors)
- Dishwasher safe Mod Podge
- Brush
- Scissors
- My free printable of Easter graphics
Print out my free printable for the graphics.
Make sure that it’s copied on a laser printer. If you do it on an inkjet printer, the graphics will smear. And that will not be cool.
Cut around the eggs. It’s okay if you don’t follow along the lines. You can cut leaving about 1/4 inch of white paper around the graphic.
Before I go further, lemme talk a bit about Mod Podge. For this craft, you absolutely need dishwasher safe Mod Podge. It will have a blue label. It will say on the label that it is dishwasher safe. If you use the regular Mod Podge, your graphic will come off while you’re using the soap. You’ll end up with pieces of paper coming off while you are using the soap. Which is not cool.
Okay. Got that? Good.
Pour some of that dishwasher safe Mod Podge on a piece of wax paper. Have your grandkids spread a layer of it on top of their soap.
Then, place your graphic on the Mod Podge and press down so that all of the edges are held firmly to the soap. (Elliot is doing that in picture below. I guess I should have gotten a close-up of what he’s doing so you could see it better . . . )
Spread Mod Podge on top of the graphic. Let it dry. Give it 3-4 more coats.
And then you’re done!
Of course you’ve just GOT to play with your soap after it’s all dry. Isn’t that what you normally do with soap? (And you thought it was for washing with. Silly you!
Of course if boys can play with their soap, can’t girls, too? Especially if you’re the little sister who thinks that she can do everything that her brothers do?
And of course since there is a bunny on the soap, one MUST pretend that the bars of soap are bunny ears now mustn’t one?
A good time was had by all!
