(NOTE: I purchased the items in this post with my own money. This is NOT a sponsored post. If by any chance you purchase something I mention here, I DO NOT make any money from your purchase. Not a single, solitary cent. Nada. I simply want to show you an example of an extraordinarily simple, easy, and fun craft to do.)
This post is a little bit different from the craft ideas that I usually write about. All of the other ones are crafts that grandma can do with grandkids. They’ve been the let’s-do-a-craft-together-grandma-and-grandkids kind, ya know?
This is a craft for GRANDMA to do by her little ole lonesome self. Then, grandma will give the pens to her granddaughters.
(Well, you COULD do this craft with your granddaughters if you want to . . . You have my permission . . . )
Are you with me?
Good.
So, let us get on with it, shall we?
I ordered these pens on Amazon. They came in a nice box with everything in neat and tidy plastic bags.
I dumped everything out to get a good look of all the stuff. My set came with 12 beadable pens that were red, white, pink, purple, and a peachy-ish color. There were enough beads to decorate all of them — and some tiny leather-like tassels. Sweet!
I divided the beads according to color and put them by a matching colored pen.
Then the fun began!
I unscrewed the tip from the end of the pen. Then I put the beads on the rod.
(Lemme tell you, this craft is super, super easy. I dare say that anybody can slip beads over small rods! It doesn’t take any special talent or skill. If I can do it, you most certainly can. The hardest part of the whole thing was deciding which beads to put with which colored pen . . . )
When I was satisfied with how everything looked, I screwed the tip back onto the pen.
Ta Da! The craft is done. In like 5 minutes (for one pen).
Aren’t they lovely little fellas?
After putting them together, I got to thinking. The size of the ink shaft was fairly short. The pen would probably run out of ink fairly soon if it was used regularly and then my granddaughters would be left with a cute pen that they couldn’t write with any more.
Luckily, Amazon came to the rescue. I got a set of 100 beadable pen refills. I think that should keep my grannddaughters supplied with ink for quite a while. Don’t you?
So, Grandma, you can give these pens as a Christmas present (it’s coming up soon), or as a birthday present, as a Valentine’s or Easter gift, or just-because-I-love-you.
You can get a set like mine on Amazon for $18. (My set was the classic style.) So it costs just a little over a dollar for one pen. That’s pretty inexpensive if you ask me.
Or, you can scope out other pens on Amazon if the set that I got doesn’t float your boat . . .
Now I can’t wait to give the pens to my granddaughters!
