I know that many families have a countdown until Christmas. That’s part of their family’s tradition.
I have one that is a big felt Christmas tree. It’s on a piece of fabric. Tiny tree ornaments are in the pockets on the fabric. Our children loved taking them out and putting them on the tree.I’ve used it for years and years.
But sometimes it’s fun for children to have their own. One that they can do all by themselves. Especially young children.
That got me thinking. What would it be like to have a countdown for those young children — those that are just learning their numbers?
With that in mind (because I have several grandchildren just learning their numbers), I created two countdown ideas that I would like to share. The first one is the Santa Countdown.
I have created this little Santa face. (You can download the printable PDF version here.)
See the numbers in his beard?
Starting on the first day of December, your grandchildren can glue on cotton balls on the appropriate day counting down until Christmas is here. By Christmas day, he should have a full beard.
This is something easy that you can mail to your grandchildren that do not live close to you. You can print this up on card stock and mail it to them along with a bag of cotton balls.
Or, you can e-mail the picture to your grandchildren. Whatever floats your boat.
I’ll share my second countdown the day after tomorrow. I’ve got to finish making it . . .
Ho, ho, ho! Happy holidays!
