Do you have tweens or teen-aged grandchildren?
If so, you might sometimes have a hard time finding something that they enjoy doing.
Never fear! The Smart Phone Game is here!
(Since kids seem to be on their phones all of the time, you might as well use it to play a game together!)
This game requires speed. It requires some thinking. It requires skill at using a smart phone.
Your grandkids will have to take selfies, or videos of themselves, locate places on a map, record themselves singing or pantomiming, and find the answers to various questions.
To play this game, each player needs a smart phone that has a camera, a voice recording app, a calculator, and a browser that has access the Internet.
Print out and give players my free printables of the list of things that they need to do with their phone. Then, on your mark, get set, go! Everyone should be speedily completing the 20 items on their list.
The first grandchild to complete her list is the winner.
As a variation, you could pair up your grandchildren. (Also, younger ones might not have access to a smart phone . . .)
Another variation is to assign point values to the questions. Set a time limit on the game and when the time is up, grandkids add up their scores. The one with the most points is the winner.
Here are my four lists of questions for you to download: Smart Phone Game 1, Smart Phone Game 2, Smart Phone Game 3, Smart Phone Game 4. Here is the answer sheet so that you can check the players answer.
You might want to have your grandkids come up with their own list of things to do. If the weather is nice, the activities could include doing something outside. If they can drive, you could send them different places to take different types of pictures.
I hope you and your grandchildren have lots of fun playing this game!

We try to put our phones away when we have family get togethers. It’s not often that the kids can have fun with their cousins and phone time is for later. But I think there is definitely a time and place for this. Kids do love it! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

This is a great idea! Although my grandchildren are young yet and easy to play with this is great to keep in mind. It’s always good to keep up with what they are doing. Thanks for sharing at the #HomeMattersParty

What fun! But I would hate to play this against my grandchildren. I have to have them explain my smart phone to me.

Maybe you could pair up your grandchildren to play the game — and then you could team yourself up with one who can help you!
Thanks for dropping by.
Best,
Nina
What a great idea! I love how the lists include things to make them think, challenge them, etc. It’s like a mini scavenger hunt – sooo clever!! Thanks for posting at Lou Lou Girls’ link party. I’ll be sharing your great idea!
