As a grandmother, what are your uses — beyond wiping drool off a teething baby’s chin, changing poopy diapers, or giving birthday money to a teen-aged grandson?
If you’re not quite sure, read 41 Uses for a Grandma by Harriet Ziefert. It’s a hoot.
My son and daughter-in-law gave me this book as a belated birthday present.
I was delighted with it. Totally!
I love the ‘uses.’ They are so clever– a time keeper, a security blanket, a hand warmer, a page turner, a ballet barre.
My favorite is a monkey bar. My muscles are as big as the ones in this picture. Almost!
I also love the drawings. They are absolutely adorable.
When you read this book to your grandchildren, they will laugh and laugh. I guarantee that you will see yourself in many of the situations in the book.
Reading it to grandchildren will be a warm, fuzzy, bonding experience.
Harriet Ziefert, the author, is a grandmother so she knows intimately what grandmothering is all about.
I recommend that you buy this book — and then read it to your grandchildren when they visit. Or, you could buy a copy and give to your grandchildren.

Sounds like a fun read. It’s always nice to laugh and look at things in a humorous light.
Hi Erlene,
It is a hoot to read — especially when you are a grandma. You really identify with the things in the book! Thanks so much for dropping by.
Warmest regards,
Nina
Sounds like a really fun book! What a great gift for anyone who is – or is about to become – a grandma! Perpetual Kid sounds like a great resource too! Thank you for sharing this post with us at the Hearth and Soul Hop, Nina!
I keep telling my kids that they need to make me a grandma while I still have the energy and the muscles to be a monkey bar.
Thanks for sharing at SYC.
Hi Carol,
I hope you become a grandmother soon! There’s nothing more wonderful than grandkids — even if they do use you as a monkey bar!
