The general population is becoming more aware of artificial intelligence (AI). ChatGPT is a website that uses AI to provide responses to your questions or requests. It was released in November 2022. In the first 5 days that it was available, it had over 1 million users.
ChatGPT says its primary purpose “is to generate human-like text.” It can do things like write a business report, provide a company with marketing ideas, and create fashion designs. (My nephew ‘wrote’ a children’s picture book in poetry form along with illustrations using AI. It’s now for sale on Amazon.)
You can even write songs! Here’s a 10 second clip of chamber music that I created.
I asked ChatGPT to give me ideas of crafts and activities that a grandmother could do with grandkids. In less than 20 seconds, it gave me 24 ideas. Wow! And the best part was the very last sentence: “The goal is to have fun, bond, and create cherished memories together.” That’s EXACTLY the purpose of my site! Cool, huh?
With ChatGPt, you simply type something in using regular conversational language. No computer coding needed. Phew! When you’re finished, ChatGPT does its magic and spits out a response.
A couple of weeks ago, my 2 granddaughters and I created limericks about each other. It was great fun. They hadn’t written limericks before and loved how easy it was to write limericks.
Here’s one about my granddaughter Natalie. (She loved the reference to YouTube!)
There once was a gal named Natalie,
Whose laugh was as loud as can be.
She tripped on her shoe lace,
Did a jig in that place,
Now her dance is on YouTube for free!
This one is about my granddaughter Emma.
There once was a girl named Emma,
Whose pet was a mischievous llama.
It ate all her socks,
And caused quite the shocks,
Now Emma wears flip-flops with drama!
This is what Natalie wrote about my husband and me.
There once was a grandma and grandpa,
Whose love never once lost its spark-a,
Their hugs were so warm,
Their presence a charm,
They truly were grandkids’ favorite rockstars-a
These aren’t perfect. (Emma does NOT rhyme with llama!) But it was a hoot to see what ChatGPT came up with.
And that got me thinking . . .
Halloween is right around the corner. I know that many grandmothers like to have Halloween parties for their grandkids. A treasure hunt would be a fun activity at that party. But writing the clues can be a daunting task.
But it wouldn’t be if you used AI!
I decided to have ChatGPT create some clues for me to see what they would be like. For the first one, I asked it to write a clue that would send kids to my washing machine. This is the clue (in poetry form):
Seek and you shall find, don’t let your hopes decline,
To uncover the next hint, where cleanliness does align.
Where clothes spin and water’s seen, a chore that must be done,
Look by the machine that washes, where the next clue’s begun.
This clue sends treasure hunters to the patio:
Beyond the threshold, where the night winds blow,
Where stars above cast a golden glow,
Search where outdoor secrets may bestow,
The clue awaits where moonbeams flow.
This clue takes them to the bathroom:
Your quest for treasure marches on, to spaces wet and drawn,
Where mirrors reflect and faucets flow, a room you must be drawn.
The place you cleanse and find your grace, where daily routines bloom,
In this chamber of ablution, awaits the next clue’s room.
Ablution? What in the world is that? Will grandchildren know what that word means? Methinks not! (By the way, ablution means washing or cleansing of the body, especially as part of a religious rite.)
Well, if you don’t like one of the words, you can simply swap it with another one. If you don’t particularly like the entire response, you can have ChatGPT make a different one. You can keep doing that until you are satisfied.

So, head on over to ChaptGPT. Play around with it. Have fun. Then, create your own treasure hunt clues. When your grandkids come to your party, they will have a ball hunting for the clues. And they’ll be impressed to know you created them using AI!
