Our kids loved playing soccer when they were growing up. And now our grandkids love it.

This is what came in the soccer box: a soccer ball, pump, small sports figures, a bag of cinnamon applesauce, a sports drink, and a card with hints and suggestions.

I liked the card that gave practice habits. There were suggestions like strengthening your weakness, developing routines, and keeping a record log to monitor progress.
I was impressed with all of the suggestions because I wouldn’t have thought of them to tell to a budding athlete.
The flip side of that card talks about player growth — and it doesn’t mean growth in terms of height or weight. It explains how everyone has their own path to getting better and to be patient with yourself. It tells how there are many ways to track growth besides how many goals you score such improving ball control and passing the ball. Great words of advice for kids!
