(NOTE: I was given this game to review but all opinions are my own.)
Everyone loves Disney. Disneyland. Disney World. Disney movies.
Well, did you know about the game Ring it On! Disney Edition? Me neither. But I sure am glad that I found out about it!
This is a game for 2 to 4 people where players swap cards trying to get matching sets. It’s easy to learn so you can be playing within minutes.
This is what the setup looks like for 4 players. One card is placed face-up in each of the 4 slots around the game tray. Each player has 3 stacks of face-down cards in front of them.
On the signal, players pick up one of their piles. They race to exchange cards in their hand for ones around the game tray. Hurry! Speed’s the thing!
When you complete a set, you ring the bell. That lets other players know that you are getting closer to completing all of your sets.
Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!
I get a set and ring the bell. Ding, ding, ding!
If you get stumped, you can place the cards in your hand face down and pick up another one of your stacks. Then you’re off in a mad dash to exchange your unwanted cards for ones that will help you complete a set.
Emma’s the winner! Hip hip hooray for Emma!
Now here’s the thing.
Emma is eight-years-old. And me? Well, I’m certainly NOT 8. I’m a tad older. (Like MANY years older.) So, you’d think that because I’m older and because I’ve been playing games since the Mesozoic Era that I would naturally win.
Not so, Nellie!
Emma seemed to win. Every. Single. Time.
My grandsons also loved playing this game with their sister. In fact, everybody that played it loved it.
Let me tell you why I like this game. First, players of all ages can play together. It doesn’t matter if you are eight-years-old or sixty-eight (like me). It’s a level playing field for everyone.
I like it because it’s fast-paced. I don’t like games that are so slow that you can nap between your turns. Fast, fast, fast. That’s where it’s at.
I love ringing the bell. That’s so fun. There’s something about ringing it that brings joy to my soul. Call me weird but it sure is fun.
The cards are very appealing. The characters on them are all Disney characters. They’re absolutely adorable. Much better than face cards (like the ones that I had to use as a kid when I wanted to play Go Fish or Crazy Eights). Cute. Bright. Colorful. Delightful.
I give this game 2 thumbs up!
