School will soon be out.
If your grandchildren live close by, you’ll have more time to spend with those sweet peas.
Are you worried about what you could do with them?
Don’t be!
I have a terrific idea for you.
Make a finger puppet!
You won’t have to make up your own patterns. Your grandkids won’t have to make them up either — unless they want to!
Mr.Printables (one of my favorite sites) has already designed some wonderful ones for you! All you have to do is print them up, cut them out, and glue them together.
A couple of days ago my grandsons made a snake puppet.
Boys like snakes and by golly they loved these! (Grandma did, too, because these snakes don’t bite!)
Here’s what you’ll need:
- snake printable (there’s one that’s colored and one that is black and white that kids could color themselves)
- scisspors
- glue stick
Sweet! Not a lot of preparation time. Not scads of things to buy or round up!
To make, simply cut out a snake.
Simon was a wonderful big brother to cut out the pink one for his little sister.
Add a dab of glue to the sides of the snake’s face and to the band that goes around the fingers.
Ta da! A finished snake puppet!
Little Polly had a melt down and wouldn’t let me take her picture with her snake. So, Simon to the rescue! He’s such a good sport!
Mr. Printable also has fun patterns for farm animals: a cat, mouse, rabbit, and a pig. Aren’t they cute?
There are also printables for birds. These take more skill with scissors so I would recommend them for kids 8 years old and older.
These puppets are easy to prepare for and fun for the kids to make. And best of all, they are FREE!
I hope you have fun making these with your grandkiddos!
