I’m hooked on luminaries.
(I thought that I would tell you in case you couldn’t tell . . .)
Here’s another one that is super easy and super fun — using rubber bands and spray paint. Your grandkids will love making a flock of these!
All that you need is a glass vase, some rubber bands, and a can of Krylon Glass Frosting. (My daughter gave me a can for Mother’s Day. Yipee!)
Put the rubber bands on your vase.
Go outside to spray paint.
(I decided it would be a tad easier to have my glass container up on a box while I spray painted it.) The paint was rather clear as I was spraying it on. I couldn’t tell whether or not I had given it a good coat. So I sprayed and sprayed.
Because I had sprayed it so much, I let the it dry for about 30 minutes. As the paint dried, it went opaque.
This is what the finished luminary looked like all finished. If you look really, really close to where the rubber bands were, you can see that it is extra white around the edges. That is where the paint is extra thick because it got piled up there. If you don’t like that, I suggest that you don’t spray and spray and spray as much as I did. I don’t mind the extra thickness of paint in those spots because I think it adds to the ‘charm.’
Here’s what it looks like with a battery operated tea light. I was very pleased at how it turned out.
So, grab some grandkids, a vase, some rubber bands, some spray paint and spray away!

This is an awesome idea! That would be a beautiful way to do a vase, too! Thanks!
Wow! I love these! They would make a perfect gift for mom from her kids. All grandma would have to do is provide the supplies and supervision. The result is something everyone can be proud of! Great idea! Thank you!
