(NOTE: I was given this stencil to review but all opinions are my own.)
A while back, I wrote about having fun using stencils with my granddaughters. Those stencils were from Stencil Revolution. We had a ball using them.
I got an additional stencil. One that I wanted to use for a project for myself. I’ll tell you about that project in a minute. But first, a little back story.
I have a longarm quilting machine and absolutely love quilting for others. When I saw the mandala stencils from Stencil Revolution, I knew immediately that I needed to paint a table topper using one of those stencils and then quilt it.
So that’s what I did.
I gathered some acrylic paints and fabric medium. (Fabric medium keeps the paint from drying stiff when painting on fabric.)
I got some white fabric, a couple of dauber paintbrushes, some paper plates, and a piece of cardboard. Oh. And of course the mandala stencil.
I wanted to make sure that the paint didn’t bleed under the stencil so I used painter’s tape and taped it to the fabric.
I smoothed the fabric over the cardboard. (I didn’t want to get paint on my counter.)
Then I started painting. I started in the middle because I didn’t want to get my hand or arm in wet paint and smear it all over the place.
I kept painting . . .
. . . and painting . . .
. . . and painting.
I’m finished painting.
I let it sit until the paint was completely dry.
You know, I really enjoyed the painting process. I think it must have released a dopamine rush in my brain because of all the pleasure I got!
After it finished drying, I added an orange-and-yellow-and-white colored border and then a yellow border.
I quilted it and then bound it with orange fabric.
Ta da! It’s finished.
Yellow and orange are my favorite colors. They bring joy to my soul.
And this. THIS! This table topper brings joy to my soul, too!
Every time I walk past the table, I look at my table topper. I absolutely love how it turned out. So bright. So colorful. So cheery.
Thank you so much Stencil Revolution for making such wonderful stencils! They are awesome.
(Pssst. I think you need to check out their stencils. You’ll be glad you did.)
