Thanksgiving is a wonderful season where people can take time to focus on gratitude and the things that they are thankful for.
I dare say that most of my readers have an innumerable amount of blessings in their lives.
I challenge you to take a few moments to think seriously and then list some of the things that you have to be thankful for.
You can also help your grandkids focus on their blessings by having them do this simple thankful circle craft. This activity will help your grandkids appreciate the good things that they have in their lives.
(Note: since my grandchildren were not available to do this craft, I invited my niece’s kids to come over. They are such cuties!! They were thrilled — and I was thrilled to have some guinea pigs . . . er . . . kids that would do the craft.)
Here are the things that you will need for your thankful circle:
- Orange paper (cardstock, construction paper, regular copy paper)
- White paper (cardstock, construction paper, regular copy paper)
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Brads
- Free printable for thankful circle craft
Print the third page of the printable on the orange paper. (This is the sheet that has the circle with a wedge section indicated and the words “I Am Thankful” on it.)
Next, print the second page on the white paper. (This is the circle that looks like a pie cut up into sections.)
Now, have your grandkids cut out the circles. Have them cut out the wedge on the orange paper. This will create a ‘window’ in the orange sheet. (See the first picture in this post to see what it should look like.)
Your grandkids can now draw a picture of something they are thankful for in each of the sections on the white piece of paper.
As they draw their pictures, have them tell you what they are drawing and why they are thankful for it. You could talk about other things they are thankful for in addition to what they drew on their white paper.
When they are finished, have them put the orange piece of paper on top of the white piece of paper and push a brad through the center of both papers.
There! They are done. (My niece’s children wanted to draw on the orange paper and to put stickers on the front. Which was absolutely fine!)
Instead of the orange paper, you could use Thanksgiving themed scrapbooking paper. If you do, use the first page of the free printable as the pattern for cutting out the scrapbook paper.
You could also print out the word strips “I Am Thankful” on the 4th page of the free printable. Cut them out and glue them on the scrapbook paper.

Awe, such a cute idea, grandbabies (nieces and nephews too) will enjoy it! Thanks so much for joining in on our Blogging Grandmothers Link Party #1. We sure appreciate you partying with us!
Such a cute craft, and I love that it gets kids thinking too. 🙂
Thinking and appreciating! That’s the goal. 🙂
This would be a fun project to have on hand for the kids to do on Thanksgiving day when they get bored with football and the grown ups talking politics (or maybe that’s just my family). Thanks for partying with us on #FridayFrivolity
We don’t watch football (much to one of my brothers-in-law dismay). Don’t talk much politics. We do play loads of games and activities. One year we played in the snow thanks to an early snowstorm!
What sweet kids! Thank you for linking up at Attitude of Gratitude.
What a delightful idea! So very cool! Of course grannie comes up with this!
It’s wonderful to encourage children to reflect on thankfulness.
Thanks for sharing (and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop).
Wishing you a lovely evening.

I think it’s important to take time to recognize things that they are thankful for. What a great way to do it! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

I totally agree! Besides, we are so blessed and have so much to be thankful for. I want the kids to realize this and be grateful.
