When it comes to crafts, I like the ones that are easy to prepare for, easy to do (read that to mean not complicated or taking lots of time to complete), and inexpensive.
Over the weekend, we had a family reunion at Bear Lake.
I always have a craft for the grandkids to do.
And the one that I did with the grandkids fit those requirements.
Yipee!
And what was really cool, that the grandkids loved making it! I’ve been lucky so far that they have always liked the crafts that I’ve had for them.
Makes me wonder if their craft requirements are like mine!
This is the perfect time of year to do this craft because most of the supplies that you need are inexpensive because of the back-to-school sales.
The craft was decorating the cover of a notebook so it was pretty instead of just a simple plain color.
Here are the supplies that you’ll need:
- A small notebook
- School glue
- Scrapbook paper
- Scissors
First, place a piece of scrapbook face down. Open up the notebook and put the cover on top of the paper. Draw around the cover.
Then cut on the lines that you have traced on the scrapbook paper.
Glue the scrapbook paper on the notebook cover. Trim if necessary. And that’s it!
I took sponge paint brushes for the little grandkids to use. I squirted the glue on the notebook cover and they spread it around with the brush.
One word of caution.
The kids need to be careful not to put a lot of glue on the edge of the cover because the excess glue will squeeze out when they press their scrapbook paper on. That excess glue oozes down the sides and glues the notebook pages together. Tears erupt when a little kiddo discovers his pages are glued shut. Just saying . . .
You might want to put something on top of the notebook while it dries because it will have a tendency to curl.
I also had bright, colorful gel pens to give to the grandkids. That was like icing on the cake. They loved them!
