Sing with Grandkids!

Here are four great children songs that the family can sing together!

Four years ago, I wrote about ‘singing’ a book called Peanut Butter and Jelly. I taught that song to my grandkids and they loved it! We sang it at our family reunions and many times when just part of the family got together.

Today, I thought that I would share more songs with you.

The first song is A Ram Sam Sam. I sang this at girls’ camp with I was a girl (back in the Mesozoic Era), at girls’ camp when I was a leader, and at family reunions with my parents. It’s great to sing as a round.

Here’s the song with people singing the words.

When you think you and your grandkids don’t need the words, here is an instrumental version for you to sing along with.

If you want, here is a PDF with a simple music score and the lyrics..

The next song is actually 2 songs. One song is When the Saints Go Marching In. Many people know this song. But the other song is This Train. You sing This Train first, then the Saints song, and then one person (or group) sings This Train while the other person (or group) sings the Saints song at the same time. Like a duet.

Here is the song with people singing the words.

Here’s an instrumental version of the song when you and your grandkids feel that you don’t need people singing the words.

Here’s a PDF with a simple music score and the lyrics.

The next song is Apples and Bananas. Kids love this because of the different ways you pronounce those two words throughout the song.

Here is the song with people singing the words. (Sorry, but there isn’t an instrumental version of this.)

Here’s a PDF with a simple music score and the lyrics.

The last song that I’ll share is Zoodeo. Here’s the song with people singing the words.

Here is the instrumental version when you know the words good enough that you don’t need others singing them.

Here’s a PDF of a simple musical score and the lyrics to the song.

If you want, you can download the music to your laptop or desktop computer. Simply right click on the music sound bar to save the song that you want. That way, you won’t have to have an Internet connection to sing to the songs with your grandkids.

But better yet, simply bring up this site on your cellphone and play the music on your phone! (No downloading is necessary that way.)

If your grandkids are staying away so they can keep you safe from COVID-19 or if they live far away, you can sing together with them using Skype, Face Time, Google Meet, Google Hangouts, or Zoom. (Huzzah for technology!)

I hope you’ll sing these songs with your grandkids when they come for a visit, at family get togethers, at family reunions, with them around a campfire, while riding in the car with them, while sitting on your patio with them in the evening, or while on your way to get an ice cream cone with them.

ANY time is a great time to sing with your grandchildren!
